Ramat de Camins takes its inspiration from a walking trip made through the Pyrenees in 1956 by the writers Camilo José Cela and Josep Maria Espinós. The trail goes from village to village in the Pyrenean counties (comarcas) of Pallars Jussa, Pallars Sobira, Val d'Aran and Alta Ribagorça. The Ramat de Camins trail makes use of traditional paths which connect 70 villages.
