CHECK-IN 2027 Competition: categories and entries
The CHECK-IN – International Hospitality Film Festival competition recognises audiovisual productions that stand out for their ability to tell new stories about hospitality, tourism and the traveller experience.
The 2027 edition features seven official categories and five audiovisual formats. Entries are open to films of up to 10 minutes in length that meet the requirements set out in the festival rules.

The 7 categories of the CHECK-IN 2027 competition
The categories reflect the diversity of today’s hospitality industry and welcome projects related to accommodation, gastronomy, experiences, mobility, sustainability, the MICE sector and technology.
1. Hospitality
Films showcasing accommodation experiences and the people, places and ideas that define hospitality in all its forms.
- Hotel: hotels, guest experience, services, identity or brand.
- Resort: resort destinations, integrated leisure experiences and premium hospitality.
- Hotel boutique: independent, design-led or character-driven hotels with a distinctive identity.
- Càmping i glàmping: accommodation and experiences centred on camping, glamping and nature.
- Hostel: hostels and social, affordable or community-oriented hospitality models.
- Others: holiday rentals, serviced apartments, lodges, guesthouses and other accommodation models.
2. Gastronomy
Films celebrating food, drink and culinary culture through the people, places and experiences that bring hospitality to the table.
- Restaurant: restaurants, cuisine, atmosphere, team and dining experience.
- Haute Cuisine: culinary excellence, innovation and world-class gastronomy.
- Bar: bars, cocktail culture, wine, spirits and social gathering spaces.
- Coffee Shop: cafés, speciality coffee and informal hospitality experiences.
- Càtering: catering services, event gastronomy and large-scale culinary operations.
3. Experience & Wellness
Films showcasing the services, experiences and human connections that enrich hospitality beyond accommodation and dining.
- Wellness: health, wellbeing, mindfulness and holistic guest experiences.
- Spa: spa facilities, relaxation, therapeutic treatments and self-care.
- Guest Experience: exceptional service, personalised attention and memorable guest journeys.
- Leisure: recreational activities, entertainment and lifestyle experiences connected to hospitality.
- Others: concierge services, personal assistance and other guest-focused offerings.
4. Travel Mobility & Hospitality
Films exploring how hospitality extends beyond destinations and how services, experiences and innovation can make every journey more comfortable, seamless and memorable.
- Cruises: cruise ships, onboard experiences, destinations and life at sea.
- Ferries: ferry travel, passenger services and maritime connections.
- Rail: rail travel, from high-speed services to luxury train experiences.
- Coach & Bus Travel: road transport services, passenger comfort and connectivity.
- Car Rental & Mobility Services: car rental, car sharing and other mobility solutions.
- Airline Hospitality: passenger experience, onboard service, airport lounges and air travel.
- Hospitality on Board: accommodation, dining, entertainment and guest services delivered during the journey.
- Others: other mobility and transport-related hospitality concepts.
5. Sustainability with Purpose
Films highlighting initiatives that create a positive environmental, social and cultural impact while helping shape the future of hospitality.
- Responsible Hospitality: sustainable practices, responsible management and environmentally conscious hospitality models.
- Social Impact: initiatives that generate positive change for people, inclusion and society.
- Community: collaboration with local communities, cultural heritage and shared value creation.
6. MICE & Business Hospitality
Films showcasing the spaces, services and experiences that bring people together for business, networking and professional events.
- Meetings: business meetings, corporate gatherings and executive hospitality.
- Incentive Travel: experiences designed to reward, motivate or inspire teams and partners.
- Congress: conferences, conventions and large-scale professional gatherings.
- Event: corporate events, product launches and business-related experiences.
- Others: exhibitions, trade fairs, business lounges and other professional hospitality services.
7. Technology & Innovation
Films exploring the technologies, ideas and digital solutions transforming the future of hospitality and guest experiences.
- PMS (Property Management Systems): technology applied to hotel operations, reservations and property management.
- Mobile Check-in: digital check-in, contactless services and seamless guest arrival processes.
- AI (Artificial Intelligence): personalisation, operational efficiency and new applications of artificial intelligence.
- Robotics: robotic solutions supporting guest services, operations and hospitality innovation.
- IoT (Internet of Things): connected technologies that create smarter and more efficient hospitality environments.
- Revenue Management: technologies and strategies that optimise pricing, demand forecasting and business performance.
Accepted audiovisual formats
In addition to selecting a category, each entrant must identify the format of their work.
Spot / Brand Film
Short promotional films created to communicate a brand, product or hospitality experience.
Documentary
Non-fiction films exploring real stories, people, places or issues through a factual narrative.
Branded Content
Story-driven productions in which a brand is naturally integrated into engaging editorial content.
Campaign
Integrated audiovisual campaigns featuring multiple films or assets developed around a unified creative concept.
Emerging Formats
Innovative storytelling using new technologies or formats, including immersive, interactive or AI-powered experiences.
CHECK-IN 2027 entry dates and fees
Until 31 December 2026: free entry (€0).
From 1 to 31 January 2027: €50 + VAT.
The entry deadline is 31 January 2027.
Basic entry requirements
- Films or campaigns must have been produced after 1 January 2024.
- The maximum running time is 10 minutes.
- The festival accepts productions in any language.
- Films must include subtitles in English, Catalan or Spanish.
